2003-2005 – Postdoctoral studies in history, as a Yad Hanadiv Fellow.

2013-2014 – Preparing and teaching a MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) for the online platform Coursera. The course, titled A Brief History of Humankind (https://www.coursera.org/course/humankind) contains 17 lectures. More than 100,000 students from throughout the world have already taken the course.

5. Prizes
2008-2011 – Voted Outstanding Teacher in the students’ surveys of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
2009 –Polonsky Prize for Creativity and Originality, for the book The Ultimate Experience: Battlefield Revelations and the Making of Modern War Culture, 1450-2000.
2011– The Society for Military History’s Moncado Award for outstanding articles in military history, for the article “Armchairs, Coffee, and Authority: Eye-witnesses and Flesh-witnesses Speak about War”.
2011 – Member of the Young Scholars Forum of the Israeli Academy of Sciences.
2012 – Hebrew University Rector’s Prize for Outstanding Teacher.
2012 –Polonsky Prize for Creativity and Originality, for the book A Brief History of Mankind.
2012 – Member of the newly established Young Israeli Academy of Sciences.
